Old Town San Diego is well north of downtown at the head of San Diego Bay and preserves relics of San Diego's early days.

Many people have urged me to go on the stage. The next stage out of town.

This ad came out when there were still people living who could remember the 32-day crossing.

The jail. A couple of days in this in the summer would make anyone repentant.

One of the more bizarre historical episodes recounted here is the time California was attacked by Argentina. Really. It happened in the early 1800's when Spain's American colonies began to revolt. Argentine rebels sailed up to California in an attempt to attack Spanish garrisons. They sailed the long way around.

I don't care what kind of reputation for trippiness California has. Nobody can get stoned enough to make stuff like this up.

A plaza offers a chance to get refreshments and see some entertainment.
